This short module introduces students to the fundamental principles of project
management and the lifecycle of managing projects successfully. Participants will learn
how projects are initiated, planned, executed, monitored, and closed using simple and
practical concepts. The course will combine key concepts with real-world examples from
infrastructure, technology, and business projects. Students will gain an understanding of
project goals, planning techniques, teamwork, and risk management. Through interactive
discussions and practical illustrations, the module will demonstrate how effective project
management contributes to successful organizational outcomes.

Kumar Gaurav Thakur is a PhD candidate in Business Administration at Central European
University, Austria. His research focuses on collaboration, innovation, and strategic
decision-making in project-based industries. Before entering academia, he worked for over
eight years as a manager at Larsen & Toubro Ltd., India’s largest engineering and
construction firm, where he managed large infrastructure and EPC project works. Kumar is
a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Six Sigma Green Belt. His research
has been presented at international conferences, including the Academy of Management,
IEEM and the Academy of International Business.
